Hero MotoCorp launched the much-awaited Xoom 110 scooter on Monday at a price $68,599 (old gallery). The scooter is available in three different variants – LX, VX and ZX. Its price is up to $76,699 (old gallery). It received a host of design and feature updates over the two-wheeler maker’s popular offering, Hero Maestro, making the new model a more premium offering. This all-new 110 cc scooter will be positioned in a highly competitive segment of the Indian two-wheeler market and will challenge established rivals such as TVS Jupiter and Honda Activa Smart.
The Honda Xoom has a sharp and sculptural design. It comes with all-LED headlights and X-shaped LED daytime running lights. Other design elements include a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, 12-inch alloy wheels, and more. A fully digital image can be connected to a smartphone by Bluetooth and display a wide range of information.
The most advanced ZS variant has cornering lights. This ensures that the cornering lights are automatically activated when the driver leans to turn to provide better illumination in the direction of the turn. The front fender of the scooter is angled and the handlebar cover contains the turn signal light. The scooter’s taillights also have an X pattern. For braking, the top variant has disc brakes at the front.
The power source for the all-new 110 cc scooter is a Fi single-cylinder, air-cooled, 110.9 cc engine, combined with a CVT gearbox, for a maximum capacity of 8.04 horsepower and maximum torque of 8.7 Nm.
The 110 cc segment in the Indian scooter market is the largest contributor to the country’s total scooter sales with around 60% market share. While Honda holds the largest market share in the segment with the Activa, Hero aims to capture a larger share of the category with its very new Xoom product.
