Rhaenyra Targaryen is an important character in Dragon’s House, and her children will play important roles in the events to come. As the show moved forward 10 years, fans met her 3 boys. Who was Rhaenyra Targaryen married to?
In ‘s current timeline Dragon’s HouseRhaenyra, do Emma D’Arcymarry Ser Laenor Velaryonson of Corlys and Rhaenys Velaryon. The marriage of Rhaenyra and Laenor was founded by Rhaenyra’s father, King Viserys, to unite House Targaryen and House Velaryon.
From the beginning, Rhaenyra and Laenor were both well aware of what their marriage would be like. Rhaenyra knew from the start that Laenor was gay. They agree to be partners in their marriage. They will fulfill their obligations to the kingdom and create an heir. Then Rhaenyra said, “We each eat dinner as we see fit.”
Their wedding ended in bloodshed leaving Laenor devastated. His mistress, Ser Joffrey Lonmouth, provoked Ser Criston Cole at the wedding. Cristin ended up beating Joffrey to death on the dance floor.
In the 10 years since their marriage began, Rhaenyra and Laenor’s agreement remains intact. They had three sons named Velaryon, although Ser Harwin Strong was clearly their biological father. Rhaenyra didn’t say it out loud, but she didn’t have to. After Rhaenyra and Laenor introduced baby Joffrey to King Viserys and Alicentplayed by Olivia Cookethey returned to their compound to find Harwin with their older sons.
Harwin is very protective of his sons. Cristin taunted Harwin about his relationship with Rhaenyra, and that led to Harwin being fired as the City Watch Commander. Harwin was able to say goodbye to Rhaenyra and his sons before setting off for Harrenhal. Unfortunately, Harwin died in a fire with his father, the Hand of the King. The fire was staged by Strong LarryHarwin’s biological brother.
Are Daemon & Rhaenyra Targaryen Married?
Right, Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen will eventually get married. This happened after Laenor died at the hands of his lover Ser Qarl Correy in battle. After Laenor’s death, Rhaenyra married Daemon, who was also her uncle.
Daemon was formerly married to Rhea Royce and Laena Velaryon, Laenor’s sister. He had two children with Laena: Baela and Rhaena Targaryen. Laena was killed by her dragon, Vhagar, after suffering complications in labor. Daemon and Rhaenyra will also have children together, Aegon III and Viserys II.
Rhaenyra Targaryen’s Sons
Rhaenyra gave birth to 5 sons in her lifetime. The first 3 are technically Velaryon, although their real father is Harwin Strong. Her two youngest sons are from her marriage to Daemon.
Jacaerys ‘Jace’ Velaryon
Jace was the oldest of Rhaenyra’s sons. He first appeared in episode 6 of Dragon’s House. He is an intuitive boy and asks his mother if Harwin Strong is his father after Harwin leaves. “Am I an asshole?” he asks. Rhaenyra was clearly taken aback, “You’re a Targaryen, that’s the only thing that matters.” His dragon is named Vermax.
Leo Hart close the young version of Jace. Harry Collett will eventually take over as the older version.
Lucerys ‘Luke’ Velaryon
Luke is Rhaenyra’s second oldest child. He follows his brother around very closely. He was partly blamed for the pig’s cruel prank on Aemond Targaryen. When Alicent confronted Aegon about the prank, he blamed Jace and Luke, even though he was involved in it. Harvey Sadler plays the younger version of Luke. Elliot Grihault will play the older version.
Joffrey Velaryon
Joffrey was born in the opening moments of Dragon’s House episode 6. Laenor promptly named him Joffrey after his dead lover, without consulting Rhaenyra. Harwin was able to say goodbye to his newborn son before he left King’s Landing. Harwin says that the next time they meet, he’ll be a “stranger,” which is an ominous harbinger of things to come.
Aegon & Viserys Targaryen
Aegon and Viserys have not been seen in Dragon’s House but we know from Fire & Blood Rhaenyra welcomed two sons with Daemon: Aegon and Viserys. These characters are very important in the upcoming Dance of the Dragons. Viserys’ bloodline eventually led to the birth of Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. Rhaenyra also gave birth to a stillborn daughter, Visenya.
