Hellblade 2 looks scary in new Unreal Engine 5 tech demo

Epic Games held a State Of Unreal presentation last night where they talked about the new technology coming to Unreal Engine 5.2, revealing Fortnite Creation 2.0 modes and launches new skins for upcoming UE5-developed games such as Senua’s Story: Hellblade 2. The first hack-and-slash adventure had pretty lifelike faces, but the spooky sequel is taking it a step further with some scary realistic tech.

Senua actress Melina Juergens took to the stage to debut Metahuman Animator – an upgrade to Epic’s digital human-building technology – and within minutes, her expressive acting was transformed. a digital character. Some characters on screen don’t look like Jurgens. For example, a stylized boy imitates her expression while wearing a t-shirt. You can see it in action in This video.

Metahuman’s presentation is then followed by the tech demo/trailer/cutscene above with Senua talking directly into the camera about slaying the gods and other puzzling topics. Her lips almost quivered, and as I studied her face, I discovered facial muscles I didn’t know existed. Ninja Theory Developer’s impressive face animations to be expected once we see their detailed development process for recreate Iceland.

Other games on display include reboot type Lord of the Fallwhich brag Its beautiful dark fantasy environment. NCSOFT introduced a trailer for Project M, a Matrix-style action-adventure game, although it debut trailer Play as a concept piece. Definitely one of the most tech demo trailers I’ve seen in a while. Finally, we have King Arthur: Legends Rise, a top-down, team-based RPG that clearly emulates Arthurian lore. It is “coming soon” to Steam.
