Heavyweight Luis Ortiz gives his prediction
Like all strong contenders, Luis Ortiz will be an interested spectator on August 20.
The day that saw one of the biggest battles of the year take place when Oleksandr Usyk Defends His Three World Heavyweight Titles Against Anthony Joshua.
It will be the first line of defense for the Ukrainians and comes 11 months after their first match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A dazzling performance from Usyk and a confusing mess from Joshua gave the away boxer a well-deserved victory.
Joshua has the daunting task of becoming a three-time champion but has enlisted the skills of trainer Robert Garcia to help him in his quest.
In a recent interview with several members of the media, filmed by FightHype, Ortiz was asked for his predictions about the war.
Responding through his interpreter, he replied:
“He believes Joshua has everything to win that rematch and should win the rematch.
“It’s up to Joshua and his mental state in the fight.”
Fifteen days later, Ortiz faced his old enemy Joshua. The 43-year-old played against former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr at Crypto.Com Arena in Los Angeles.
Ortiz, a former title challenger, will be looking to claim two wins from two years now after beating Charles Martin in early 2022.
For Ruiz, it will be his first bout since beating Chris Arreola in an all-Mexico heavyweight bout 14 months ago. The 32-year-old turned out to be a well-deserved winner on all three scorecards.
Anyone stepping out as a loser on September 4 will find their own title aspirations severely dented with a whole host of trusted boxers looking for a shot at Usyk, Joshua or the champion. WBC rival Tyson Fury.
