Heart attack: Study says this bathing habit can lead to heart attack

Even if a person is fit, healthy or young, cold water can trigger a heart attack by causing vasoconstriction (a tightening of the muscles around your blood vessels). Research has found that this often happens in hot weather, when people are more eager to immediately step into a cold shower.

This risk was first identified in a study published in the journal Physiology, which explains that a sudden dip in cold water is harmful to our bodies. It can lead to a series of cardiorespiratory neurological reactions, known as the cold shock response. It can lead to gasping, hyperventilation, shortness of breath, and panic. This can trigger an irregular heartbeat and lead to a heart attack.
