Health ministry calls high-level meeting on Monkeypox | India News


NEW DELHI: One day after the World Health Organization (WHO) announced Monkey smallpox outbreak of a global health emergency, Union Health Minister General Department of Health (DGHS) on Sunday called for a high-level meeting on the virus disease at 3 pm.
India detected its fourth case of monkeypox in Delhi, on Sunday.

According to sources, the 34-year-old man has no history of foreign travel. The infected person attended a bachelor party recently in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. He has been isolated at Lok Nayak hospital.

His samples have been sent to National Institute of Virology (NIVSources said: Pune on Saturday delivered positive results. Close contacts of infected people have been identified and are being quarantined according to the guidelines of the health ministry
Three previous cases were reported from Kerala. While one of them had returned from the UAE, the other two had traveled from Dubai.
