Health Department closes Turkey Leg Hut restaurant in Houston for 35 violations
Oh my gosh! Houston Health Department is closed. Turkey Leg Hut for “serious violations of food safety laws.” Meanwhile, the popular restaurant announced on social media that it was undergoing renovations.

KHOU11 reports that inspectors found 35 violations at the popular Creole restaurant on Almeda Street in Houston, “including conditions that pose a public health hazard.” Fox26Houston states that the restaurant has breached health regulations relating to improper storage, pest control, flooring, ventilation, etc.
However, Turkey Leg Hut announced on Instagram that it will be closed for renovations through Sunday (September 22), promising to give customers a “better dining experience.”
Despite the restaurant’s assurances, the health department has yet to confirm a reopening date. Additionally, KHOU11 reports that health officials need the restaurant to remain closed until it fixes the issues and passes its next health inspection.
“We take public health very seriously and will monitor the situation,” the health department said in a statement.
