Hayley Edwards: What will Penguin Island be called when the at-risk penguins are gone?

Can you imagine Rottnest without quokkas, or Monkey Mia without its dolphins? It would be unthinkable, and if their habitat or numbers were at risk, every effort would be made to protect these iconic animals which continue to attract visitors from all over the world.

Why is then, that Penguin Island, just off the Rockingham Shoalwater coast, is at imminent risk of losing its entire population of little penguins, and the Government is sitting on its hands and more focused on spinning a story?
