Havnameltdown Wiring San Vicente

Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman Havnamemeldown (c, 3, Uncaptured–Ashley’s Babe, by Put it Back) put all fractions and keep and co-favorites Faustin (make for curly) took the lead to win the GII San Vicente S. two stages at Santa Anita Sunday. Havnameltdown, one of Bob Baffert’s three cadets in the four-horse field, was a step behind his inside spot, but recovered quickly and took the lead. Flying colt controlled a quarter in: 22.46 with foresight child man (creative cause), the only non-Baffert runner in the field, was very close. He started inching further after half-time with a score of: 45.46 and a three-lane lead at the top of the lane as Faustin, his first start since a ‘TDN’s Rising Star’-deserved debut at Santa Anita on December 26, tried in vain to lure him down the lane. Havnameltdown completed seven stretches in 1:22.29.
Havnameltdown graduated with his Del Mar debut last July and added a GIII Best Pal S. August 14 win in his second debut. He finished second behind his stablemate Cave Rock (Arrogate) in GI Del Mar Futurity on September 11, but returned to the winner’s circle with a 1 1/4 win in GIII Bob Hope S day November 20th.
Lifetime record: 5-4-1-0. O-Pegram & Watson & Weitman. B-Katherine Devall (Fl). T-Bob Baffert.
