Hats will make a successful comeback in 2022

Lately, there’s been a maximalist mood that has permeated every aspect of fashion. We’re entering the next vibrant 20s, and our wardrobes are catching on to that mood: it’s time to swap out sweatpants and casuals for something more exciting. Sequins, silks and bright colors are blooming on the runways and saturating the streetwear scene. Nowhere is this change to the ultraglamour more apparent than with the hats.

We’ve lost the allure of fashionable hats for a while, haven’t we? It’s not all to blame for the recent fashion shutdown that has been (mandatory) caused by the years-long pandemic. The glamor of the 1950s and 60s hats has vanished in the past few decades. Hats became boring, serving only utilitarian needs: wool hats pulled down to cover cold ears and baseball rims provided shade. Thank you Fashion Gods because we have a new generation of super cool, super cool mills that are pushing us to recall the fun feeling of wearing a party hat.

Perhaps no one does more to take home more statement hats Ruslan Baginskiy. The Kyiv-born designer started his career as a stylist, but when he couldn’t find hats for his coats, he started making them himself. And let’s all light a candle together that Ruslan made that pivot, because the sheer magic he creates is unmistakable. Baginskiy can count the most famous, most influential artists of our time among his fans. Kim Taehyung of BTS, poet laureate Amanda Gorman, Miley CyrusBlackpink, supermodel Bella Hadid and Cardi B are all in #RBGang.

Baginskiy recently released a small collection of fatally glamorous hats. “We are all born to shine,” Sparkle Mania collection stated, “and Ruslan Baginskiy is here to give you a tool.” The designer reimagined his six signature pieces (cowboy hat, baker-boy hat, beret, balaclava, headband and bucket hat) in thousands of crystals. “Let’s get the sparkle and glamor back, be ironic enough to make it part of our normal wardrobe,” Baginskiy asked his fans.

Here’s why I love this capsule – and the extreme hat trend in general: it’s purely for the sake of aesthetics. All are flash, no function. There is no practical need for these gorgeous accessories to be met. They are purely for entertainment. To add more sparkle to the world.

In case you need more proof how amazing Baginskiy’s Sparkle Mania capsules are: Madonna has made her official Instagram public, declaring her love for it.

Another line that heralds the return of party hats is Marianna Senchina. The Milan-based line is run by sisters Marianna and Natalia and dedicated to a rich, romantic aesthetic that has created Rihanna and fans of Dua Lipa.

Senchina’s holiday collection is full of princess essentials like velvet skirt, patterned tights, ruffled sleeves and delicately beaded cardigan, but the star of the cape is the headdress. Sparkling and veiled hats brought the balaclava trend into the camp arena by making them sparkle in metal and adding a sophisticated, crystal-encrusted veil. The resulting hat is an incredibly fun piece that feels both classic and futuristic.

There’s another person to thank for the return of party hats: Carrie Bradshaw. Fictional fashion icon wore a lot of enchanting things on Sex and the city restart And just like that Recently, even The Cut couldn’t help but wonder, “How many hats does a woman need?” Carrie, who has been forever associated with her unyielding devotion to shoes (insert “Hello, Lover” GIF here), has suddenly developed a deeply unrelenting obsession with shoes. weird hat.

There’s an absurdly large floppy disk she unearthed while rooting through the largest archive that ever existed in NYC, the gravity-defying tilt-it-disk she wears in a crowd. mourning, a sun hat with a pink crepe flower to tell. a (highly medical) story about a septum, a tiny feathered Peter Pan pillbox for brunch – only half a dozen volumes in the series so far, and a list of hilarious hats was long.

My point: none of these occasions call for fancy headwear, but our Carrie still exists. Why? Because silly hats are fun and I don’t know about you, but I’m getting ready for a party.
