Harmonix Fuser music mashup producer is being delisted

There are so many games released each year that I sometimes only notice a few years after the fact. Unfortunately, that’s sometimes long enough for a game to be cancelreleased again. So it is with drying coil, Harmonix’s 2020 music game in which players create new compositions by combining other people’s songs. It will be delisted later this month and its “live services” are being shut down.
“We’d like to thank you for joining us. On December 19, we will be disabling FUSER’s live services and all sales of the game, as well as its DLC,” the statement said. written by dad on the Fuser . website. “Players who already own FUSER will still be able to play the Campaign and Quick Play with any DLC they’ve purchased.
“Thank you again for your support and for all the great mix-ups over the years.”
“Live Service” is a bit vague, but Fuser includes both online and co-op PvP modes, which looks like it will be for players. The announcement didn’t give a reason for the closure, but it was probably related to the expiration of licenses for many of the songs included in Fuser.
Fuser gives you access to a music library divided into ‘trunks’, which are tracks layered together that make up a song. You can then overlap the passages that start from one song with those that start from another song to please a virtual crowd and score points. Colm (RPS in peace) had a a lot of fun with it around the releasesupported the combination of vocals from Ace Of Base’s 1993 hit The Sign with music from DMX’s X Gon’ Give It To Ya.
Perhaps significant in retrospect, Colm wrote about it as one of the “best games you’ve missed” in 2020. Still, even with low player numbers, I imagine that bonus Fuser formula won’t be great, probably dropped a bunch of money on the DLC and soon won’t be able to play it with friends anymore. (Perhaps also significantly, Fuser was published by NCSoft but the developers Harmonix was acquired by Epic last year.)
If you want to grab the base game before it disappears from the sale, you’ll have to pay the price £17.39 on Steam.
