The family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has reached an agreement with Alec Baldwin and other Rust producers about her death on set last year.

According to the settlement, subject to court approval, filming Rust will continue with the “original main players on board” and Hutchins’ husband Matthew will serve as executive producer.

Matthew Hutchins said in a statement: “I am not interested in attributing or attributing responsibility (to the producer or Mr. Baldwin). “We all believe that Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I’m grateful that the producers and entertainment community came together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”

The unjust death of the family against Baldwin and the others Rust Manufacturers will also be laid off.

“Throughout this difficult process, everyone maintained a specific desire to do what was best for Halyna’s son,” Baldwin said. said in an Instagram post Wednesday morning. “We are grateful to all those who have contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation.”

Last October, Hutchins was killed after the Colt .45 pistol Baldwin was holding suddenly exploded and fired a live shot, causing the cameraman to attack.

Baldwin, who said he was following Hutchins’ instructions while they were shooting a scene for the West, has insisted he didn’t pull the trigger.

“I took the gun. I went, ‘Can you see that? Can you see that? Can you see that?'” Baldwin said in a December interview with ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos. “And then I let go of the hammer, and the gun went off.”

Earlier this year, Baldwin submit a request for arbitration against Rust manufacturers, argued that it was not his responsibility to test the gun for real ammunition and that he should be protected from any legal claims.

The film’s lead actor, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, also appeared in court for the shooting, blame it about the manufacturer’s ammunition supplier.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the shooting, but so far no one has been charged with criminal charges in Hutchins’ death.

Rust Director Joel Souza, who was injured in the shooting, praised Hutchins as “extremely talented, kind, creative” and said he was delighted to be able to complete the film with the support of her family. .

Souza said: “In my own healing efforts, any decision to go back to finish directing the film could only make sense to me if it was made with the participation of Matt and the Hutchins family. .

“All my efforts in this film will be devoted to honoring Halyna’s legacy and making her proud. It is a privilege to see this on her behalf,” he added.

Melina Spadone, an attorney for Rust Movie Productions, LLC, said the proposed settlement is “an important step forward in celebrating Halyna’s life and honoring her work.”
