Halo Infinite has wrapped up its first year, and developer 343 Industries has now shared some first year stats. Direct Service Boss Sean Baron said in a blog post that Halo Infinite had “the biggest launch year” in Halo’s 20-year history.
Some statistics for the first year include 170 million multiplayer matches, 50 million campaign missions played, and 16 billion Spartans killed. Together, players have wiped out over 2 billion bots and performed 6 million “Ninja” kills, which is when a player jumps over enemies and hits them in the back with a melee. In the end, 343 says players have collectively created 130,000 maps in Forge.
“We’re so grateful for your time with us and the passion you’ve shown for this franchise. A year of challenges and opportunities,” said Baron. “However, your energy and participation drove us.”
Baron added: “We’ve changed the way we develop and even the way we organize. Needless to say, we’re committed to making Halo Infinite better with each update.”
One of the final updates to Halo Infinite is launching today, December 20th, adding free winter-themed cosmetics like Santa hats and reindeer antlers to your character. Winter Standby II runs through January 3rd–check out the trailer below.
Halo Infinite’s multiplayer launches on November 15, 2021, on the Halo series’ 20th anniversary. As the above statement alludes to, Halo Infinite had an epic premiere but fans were quick to complain about the lack of important updates to the multiplayer live service element. On the single player side, Microsoft Planned local split-screen co-op canceled.
The game’s next big update, Part 3: Echoes inside, coming in March 2023. Outside of games, 2022 marks the launch of the Halo television series. The show was a success and A second season is filming now.
