Halo Infinite: No plans to add AI Cortana to multiplayer, playable Elites not a priority

Halo Infinite’s creative head, Joseph Staten, and the game’s community director, Brian Jarrard, explained a few things in regards to players’ wants and desires when it comes to multiplayer, revealing that AI Cortana and Playable Elites aren’t coming anytime soon.

First reported by GameSpot, two Halo developers responded to tweets differently, one asking to add AI Cortana to the multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite and the other asking to add playable Elites to the game. Unfortunately, for fans who also want to, it doesn’t look like these features are planned for the title right now.

In a response to a tweet saying “Day 6 requires joining Cortana as a multiplayer,” Staten said he appreciates the commitment but that “as much as I love Cortana and [Cortana voice actor Jen Taylor]There are no current plans to make Cortana an AI in multiplayer. ”

Elsewhere, Jarrard responded to a fan’s list of wishes and desires for Halo Infinite, including playable Elites. Jarrard said he appreciates the passion and love of the fans, but he will “tell it straight to you – We have a lot of fundamental issues to work through. We might eventually get the Elites playable but sorry to say that’s not a current priority or being actively worked on right now. ”

AI Cortana would be a neat addition to the game, especially given how important she is to the franchise and the level of multiplayer AI you hear about in any given match. . As for the playable Elites, these aliens are available to play as in previous Halo multiplayer experiences, so it’s no surprise that fans seek it out in Halo Infinite. Given Halo Infinite’s multiplayer story, which talks about training Sparta for combat, playing as an Elite doesn’t seem to fit the game’s current multiplayer setup. Things can change, and neither Jarrard nor Staten say never – both essentially say not now.
