Gyanvapi case: Varanasi court postpones judgment on plea seeking ‘Shivling’ worship till November 17 | India News


VARANASI: An expedited court on Monday adjourned until November 17 their ruling on the appeal for permission to worship a “Shivling” claimed to have been found inside Gyanvapi mosque complicated here.
Civil Judge (senior division) Mahendra Pandey Assistant District Government Counsel Sulabh Prakash said the ruling has been postponed until November 17.
After hearing the arguments of both parties in the dispute, on October 27, the court reserved an order to initiate proceedings on November 8.
Since the judge is on leave on November 8, the issue was posted on Monday.
On May 24, plaintiff Kiran Singhgeneral secretary of Vishwa Veda Sanatan Sangh, filed a lawsuit in Varanasi district court, seeking an injunction banning Muslims from entering the country. Gyanvapi complex, handing over the complex to Sanatan Sangh and ask permission to offer prayers for “Shivling”.
On May 25, District Judge AK Vishvesh ordered the petition to be promptly referred to the court.
Varanasi district judge, police commissioner, Anjuman Intezamia Commission, which manages the affairs of the Gyanvapi mosque, and Vishwanath Temple Trust was made the respondent in the suit.
On April 26, a lower court (civil magistrate – senior division) had previously heard the appeal of a group of women to ask permission for the daily worship of idols of the gods. Hindus on the outer walls of the mosque ordered a video survey of the Gyanvapi complex. The Hindu side has claimed that a “Shivling” was found inside the mosque complex during the exercise.
However, the Muslim side still insists that the structure is part of the fountain mechanism at the “wazookhana” reservoir, where devotees perform a cancellation ritual before offering “namaz”.
The Supreme Court transferred the case from the senior civil judge division to the district judge on May 20 and found that looking at the “complexity” and “sensitivity” of the matter, it would be better if an officer Senior Judiciary has over 25-30 years of experience in handling cases.
The district judge is hearing another call for a survey of underground closure sites on the Gyanvapi campus. This case will be heard on 11/11.
