Gurjar Leader Vijay Singh Bainsla Warns Rahul Gandhi

'Make Sachin the Minister of Pilots,' warned Community Leader Rahul Gandhi

He had previously threatened to stop the yatra in the state.

Jaipur:

Gurjar leader Vijay Singh Bainsla has threatened to protest Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Rajasthan unless his request to make Sachin Pilot, a prominent figure in the community, as chief minister is accepted. .

He said leaders of Gurjar Arakshan Sangharh Samiti will be present from Wednesday to prepare for the containment of yatra.

“The current Parliamentary government has completed four years and has one more year to go. Now Pilot Sachin should be appointed prime minister. If this happens, then you (Rahul Gandhi) are welcome. We will oppose otherwise,” he said Monday night.

The Gurjar community makes up between 5 and 6% of the state’s population and is influential in more than 40 seats, mainly in eastern Rajasthan. This zone includes the districts from which the yatra is expected to pass.

In a video statement following a meeting with community members, he said Mr Gandhi should visit Rajasthan “with a Gurjar minister or with an answer on the matter”.

He said the community voted for Parliament in 2018 in the hope that a Gurjar would become chief minister.

“We did not vote for the MLA, we voted for Gurjar CM,” he said.

Mr. Bainsla also accused the congressional government of failing to fulfill its promises to the community.

“We had an agreement with the government in 2019 and 2020 on a number of issues but the agreement was not implemented. It is not we who are threatening to stop the yatra but the Rajasthan government is forcing us to make this move. by not fulfilling our request,” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Bainsla also threatened to stop the yatra. In response, the head of the National Assembly Committee of Pradesh Govind Singh Dotasra later said that no one had the courage to stop yatra in the state.

Bharat Jodo Yatra is expected to arrive from Jhalawar on December 3 and will cover parts of Jhalawar, Kota, Bundi, Sawaimadhopur, Dausa and Alwar in 20 days.

On Friday, Rajasthan Agro-Industry Commission vice-chairman Suchitra Arya fought to appoint Mr Pilot as minister.

Before her, Forestry Minister Hemaram Chaudhary had said in Barmer that a new face should be given a chance in due course. He also claimed that Pilot played a key role in revitalizing Congress in the state and that it came to power in 2018.
