The winners of Gulfstream Park’s $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile S. and the $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies S., both set for May 13, will each win rights. automatically enter one of Royal Ascot’s six 2-year-old races. The two 5-mile grass running events will be the first US automatic qualifying for a race at Royal Ascot.
In addition, connections will receive a $25,000 equine travel allowance.
Aidan Butler, CEO of 1/ST Racing & Gaming said: “1/ST RACING is delighted to announce this new global partnership with Ascot Racecourse. “Gulfstream Park is honored to host two automatic qualifiers to challenge the best in the world at this year’s Royal Ascot meeting.”
Royal Ascot will be held this year from June 20-24.
“We are excited to partner with 1/ST RACING on this initiative and build on the already strong foundation of success that American youth have at Royal Ascot. It is hoped that the offers will attract a quality sector and we look forward to welcoming their relationships at Ascot,” said Nick Smith, Director of Racing and Public Affairs, Ascot Racecourse, said.
The six juvenile races in the June Royal Ascot meeting were:
June 20
-The G2 Coventry, 6 stretches
June 21
-The G2 Queen Mary, 5 long feathers, canarium
-Windsor Castle, 5 stretches, listed
June 22
-The G2 Norfolk, five stretchers
June 23
-The G3 Albany, 6 feathers, fillet
June 24
-Chesham shares, listed
Nominations for Royal Palm Juvenile and Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies will close on April 30.
