Guerrero Jr competes for Judge award instead of Ohtani for MVP
It seems there are only two players who actually took home the 2022 AL MVP award: Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. The race for hardware could be the tightest of all the major prizes in the MLB this fall, as both superstars can make very legit cases to be named MVPs. .
Last week, longtime broadcaster Joe Buck discussed both candidates, and while he said Ohtani was “unbelievable”, a “great guy” and “doing something that we unseen” (with his two-way talent), he made it clear that he was given the crown by the Judge. Bucket selected Judge “hands down,” noting that the quarterback’s team – the New York Yankees – are headed for the postseason, while Ohtani’s Los Angeles Angels are not.
On Thursday, first team athlete of the Toronto Blue Jays All-Star, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, expressed his agreement with Buck. Guerrero is the 2021 AL MVP runner-up for Ohtani.
