Gucci and The North Face create outdoor fashion magic again
Gucci and The North Face rejoined the creative forces once again to make winter not all that bad.
Brands, link for the first time last year, is set to release a second collection just in time to replenish our dwindling supplies of patience and determination. But first, there’s a coveted new campaign set in the ethereal landscape of Iceland – a Gucci’s collaboration Alessandro Michele and French photographers (and twins) Jalan and Jibril Durimel – showing fearless Gucci x The North Face adventurers posing with awe-inspiring glaciers and rolling green hills, highlighting both natural features and great co-branding.
The 130-piece collection for the second year includes soft, ready-to-wear accessories, luggage and footwear, including multi-purpose hiking boots and backpacks. Unlike what you’d find in a traditional open-air mall, the retro-inspired pieces feature bright colors and full monogram signs from iconic clothing from the decade. 90s of The North Face and the Gucci archives. Standout pieces include a boldly patterned puffer vest and floral embroidered panties, along with a fluff-adorned mule silhouette that made the top wishlist. A range of practical accessories, such as belt pouches and water bottle holders, feature fun prints that act as exclamation points for already noisy winter uniforms. Prices start at $230 and go all the way up to $3,400.
The second chapter of the Gucci and The North Face collaboration promotes mindful production using ECONYL regenerative nylon and insulation are, according to the press release, certified to the Responsible Down Standard by Control Union; packaging emphasizes this environmentally conscious ethos by using paper and cardboard from sustainably managed forest sources.
