Gravity Rush movie in development at Sony, with director Anna Mastro Attached: Report


Gravity Rush is gearing up for a movie adaptation. According to Deadline, Sony’s PlayStation Productions unit and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions are developing a live-action adaptation of the 2012 Japanese sci-fi action video game. Anna Mastro (Secret Society of Second Born Royals) is directing from a script penned by Emily Jerome (Panopticon), her second writing contract. The Gravity Rush movie joins a growing list of PlayStation titles set to hit screens, including The Last of Us, God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Developed by Sony-owned Japan Studio, the game Gravity Rush follows Kat, an amnesiac with the ability to control how gravity affects her, allowing her to stride through walls and hover mid-air. Gravity Rush first debuted on PlayStation Vita in 2012, used the handset’s tilt controls to navigate through the floating city of Hekseville. The game features Kat exploring the open world and completing quests for the townspeople and defeating the Nevi, a strange race of monsters. The game finally received a next part give PS4 in 2017.

With Gravity Rush, Sony continues to expand its video game adaptation portfolio since kickstarting that is PlayStation Productions label. Other notable works include a Netflix series based on post-apocalypse Horizon Zero Dawn and a God of War displayed, reported in talk soon with Amazon Prime Video.
