Dolly Parton’s hype appeared on Grace & Frankie happened in the last episode of your favorite Netflix series. After Grace and Frankie are electrocuted by a martini, they wake up in the afterlife. They quickly discovered leaflets that said “So you’re dead”.
Frankie quips that Grace killed her. “I knew it. You were my killer,” she added. Grace was determined to leave heaven with Frankie. They had to talk to their case manager to claim their case.
Frankie thinks her life is over and says she has accepted death. Grace doesn’t think so. “I swear to you, we’re not done yet. Maybe – just maybe – the best is yet to come,” Grace told Frankie.
They decide to “knock on heaven’s door” and stumble across Agnes played by Dolly. Agnes is a “working-class angel”, a nod to 9 to 5. Agnes says she’ll check their records so they can hit the road. Grace believes there has been a mistake. Agnes realizes that Grace will return to the land of the living but not Frankie. Grace doesn’t want to leave without Frankie and vice versa with Frankie.
Frankie told Agnes: “If I couldn’t be with Grace, I would be in a lot of pain emotionally. Since Agnes is not a top dog in the afterlife, she doesn’t have any wobble. “Rules are rules. It’s time to say goodbye,” Agnes told Grace and Frankie.
Saying goodbye is something that hurts both of them. Both were in tears as Agnes watched. Grace and Frankie say they love each other, and Agnes realizes she can’t separate them. She turned her head and allowed Frankie to return to the real world with Grace.
Dolly’s appearance in Grace & Frankie the end of the series marks a 9 to 5 reunion for Dolly, Jane Fondaand Lily Tomlin. The notable trio starred in the iconic 1980 film. Dolly, Jane and Lily recently reunited on stage at the 2021 Emmys.
