Government launches new PLI Scheme for IT hardware: Rajeev Chandrasekhar
Minister of Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the Central Government will soon launch a program to encourage joint production of IT hardware and information technology servers (PLI), and offer additional incentives. complements manufacturers to incorporate Indian-designed intellectual property into their products. on Tuesday.
Speaking online at the 2023 VLSI Design Conference starting today, Chandrasekhar said the government has announced the Future Design Program, which invests $200 million (approximately Rs 1,635 crore) in startups that will design or co-design IP, tools, or devices for the next generation. generation of apps in India.
“By 2024, we believe India will step in Semiconductors manufacturing and catalyzing space for a more domestic design and innovation ecosystem, where we are encouraging startups to partner with leading global experts to develop IP, to develop co-owned or owned devices for which the government has announced the Design of the Future Program,” he said.
“To ensure that these devices and the innovation ecosystem are fully supported by the market, we will soon launch IT servers and IT hardware PLIs similar to the hugely successful mobile PLI. In IT PLI, we will create additional incentives for those manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who incorporate Indian designed IP into their systems, into their products, ” he said.
Chandrasekhar said, “We are raising government funding to positively catalyze India’s semiconductor ecosystem and work with the industry and the global expat community to ensure that ambition Our vision of India as a semiconductor nation will be realized very quickly.”
The Center is also focusing on the Digital India RISC-V (DIR-V) program for next generation microprocessors to achieve design and commercial silicon wins, the minister added. according to the announcement of the organizers.
The five-day conference themed “Semiconductors Drive Breakthrough Innovation in Global Digitization” is designed to bring together key stakeholders and is represented by engineers, students and faculty , industry experts, academia, researchers, government officials and organizations.
Telangana Government Chief Information Technology Minister Jayesh Ranjan said the state is at the forefront of the startup revolution and has created a wave of opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship in the tech sector and the VLSI sector. , with leading semiconductor companies based and rapidly expanding in Hyderabad.
In her keynote, Satya Gupta, President of the VLSI Association of India, emphasized the role VLSI plays in developing and accelerating the industry in India and how it shapes the development of industries. start-up company.
Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) is the process of creating an integrated circuit (IC) by splicing thousands of transistors into a single semiconductor microchip. The microprocessor is a VLSI device commonly used in the electronics industry.
With scaling reaching its fundamental limits, he said it’s time to look at solving technological challenges at a higher level of abstraction in CMOS-based design, while also looking beyond silicon to further performance enhancement, the release said.
CMOS stands for “Completary Metal Oxide Semiconductor”, which is a technology used to manufacture integrated circuits. CMOS circuits are found in several types of electronic components, including microprocessors and batteries.
