The Union Government has authorized the establishment of a large Integrated Garment Park and Textile Park in Navsari of Gujarat. The MITRA Park scheme is designed to promote the textile industry of selected states.

MITRA Park is designed to improve technology and promote textile production

MITRA Park will integrate and streamline textile operations in Gujarat. Industry players in Gujarat have welcomed the move and are confident that it will assist in establishing a textile manufacturing value chain in Gujarat, the ET Bureau reported.

“The state will benefit the most as it is already home to the man-made fibres, technical textiles and ready-to-wear industries,” an industry source told TNN. The government has announced a number of plans designed to benefit the domestic textile industry and boost production, including the Textile and Garment Production Linked Incentive program. The Union Government is keen to create new job opportunities in the industry and promote exports from the industry.

The Union Government recently announced that it will establish textile parks across India and has spent a total budget of Rs 4,445 crore to set up these parks. On March 22, MITRA Park in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu was opened following an agreement signed by the central and state governments.
