Google starts rolling out a new widget design for Android tablets, claims report

Google has started optimizing widgets for Android Tablets following the recent announcement of plans for larger-screen mobile devices. Last week, the tech giant started rolling out an updated Google Keep widget that has moved from the sidebar to the bottom bar. However, Google Keep’s new “two-compartment view” for tablets and foldables is not yet widely available and is expected to be available to users worldwide soon.
Meanwhile, the company has also started rolling out the latest circular design for the update Google Drive widget is also new for Material You. The new circular widget configuration will be available with version 2.22.357.1 of Google Drive on tablets, 9to5Google reports. However, this new design will not be available for Android phones.

New changes coming with Google Drive add-ons update
The company has indicated that it is updating the “Quick Action” widget with keyboard shortcuts that will help users quickly start a new document in – Docs, Sheets or Slides. These new shortcuts will replace the plus icon in the bar layout available on the creation page below and will combine with other options to help users quickly – open Google Drive, search, upload and launch camera. Furthermore, all shortcut icons will be arranged in a 3×2 configuration.
The new circular Google Drive widget looks similar to a rotating dial that was present on older landlines. Previously, the unique Material You design was limited to x-shaped dials (or petals) and the latest circular design is completely new to this theme. Moreover, these widgets with many shortcuts can not only catch the eye, but can also become very important for applications that need a lot of shortcuts.

Supports multiple versions of Google on Android
In addition to the new circular Google Drive widget design, the company is also rolling out a new feature for Android. Multi-version support will allow users to open two windows side-by-side and will work with Docs, Sheets, and Slides on Android. Google Drive has been updated with a similar feature and is expected to be fully rolled out to Workspace’s collaboration tools in the coming days.
