Google Pixel 7 vs Pixel 6a: Which Pixel Should You Buy In India

There are two new ones Pixels phone in town, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, last year’s success Pixel 6 series. Both are quite similar to their predecessors but come with some upgrades. Google also launched another Pixel earlier this year, Pixel 6aa more affordable version of last year’s Pixel 6.

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a: Design
The two have a similar design – a dual-tone rear camera shroud – but some differences still exist. The Pixel 7 has a glass back, while the 6a has a plastic back. Although the Pixel 6a is slightly smaller than the Pixel 7. Furthermore, the Pixel 7 has an IP68 rating, while the 6a has an IP67 rating.
Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a: Display
The Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a have flat OLED panels with a hole cutout in the middle, but they differ in size. The Pixel 7 has a 6.3-inch display and the Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch display. One significant difference between the two is the refresh rate – the OLED panel on the Pixel 7 has a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 6a has a rather disappointing 60Hz refresh rate.

The new Tensor G2 has been fitted on Samsung’s 4nm process node; not a huge improvement though. Tensor G2 has the same architecture as the first generation Tensor – 2x Cortex-X1 + 2x A76 and 4x A55; cores have slightly higher clock speeds.
The new Mali-G710 MC10 GPU promises a 35% increase in machine learning tasks and improved graphics performance.

In terms of storage configuration, the Pixel 7 comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the Pixel 6a offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a: Camera
The Pixel 7 has a 50-megapixel wide camera capable of f/1.85 aperture, 82-degree field of view, and LDAF. Meanwhile, the Pixel 6a comes with a 12.2MP wide camera with f/1.7 aperture and 77-degree field of view. Both have the same 12MP ultra-wide camera. However, the Pixel 7 has a 10.8MP front camera, while the Pixel 6a has an 8MP front camera.
Pixel 7 has some new camera features like Photo Unblur, Guided Frame, Cinematic Blur, with improved 2x zoom and Real Tone filter.
Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a: Price in India
Pixel 7 retails at Rs 59,999 in India, although it is available for Rs 49,999 in pre-orders after applying bank offers. Meanwhile, Pixel 6a, which was launched at Rs 43,999, is now selling for Rs 34,199.
