Google Pixel 7 Pro becomes top-rated camera phone on DxOMark, surpassing iPhone 14 Pro

Google Pixel 7 Pro powered by the second generation Tensor G2 SoC was announced in India last week. Now, Google’s latest high-end smartphone has surpassed the iPhone 14 Pro and become the smartphone topping the DxOMark camera chart. The Google Pixel 7 Pro scored a total of 147 points. It has a triple rear camera setup at the rear consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The Google Pixel 7 Pro scored 148 points in the photography test and 143 points in the Zoom test. The iPhone 14 Pro scored 146 points on DxOMark, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max scored 149 points.

DxOMark has published a detailed review of the new camera Google Pixel 7 Pro. Google’s smartphone received an overall camera rating of 147 on benchmarks. This number is higher than the 146 points that the iPhone 14 Pro received. Pixel 7 series phones with Honor Magic 4 Ultimate currently tops the list of top camera smartphones on DxOMark. They are followed by iPhone 14 ProHuawei P50 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro are in third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro scored 148 points for stills, 143 points for zoom, and 143 points for video. The phone scored 70 points in Bokeh mode and 74 points in preview mode. This latest phone seems to excel in photography and video recording with consistent results in all conditions. The DxOMark team has provided a few comparison shots for an overview of the integration advancements.

DxOMark reviewers gave it 109 points for telephoto capabilities and 111 points for width on the ultra-wide camera found on the Google Pixel 7 Pro.

It scored 113 points for exposure and 119 points for color in the image. DxOMark notes that the handset offers good detail at all zoom ranges, from ultra-wide to long-range. Backlit portrait scenes with good contrast and fast and accurate autofocus in photos and videos were the main improvements observed by the benchmarking site. Video recording on the Pixel 7 Pro has also been improved, and the phone scores 106 points for exposure and 110 points for color. Its 143 points for video performance is slightly worse than that of its closest competitor, the iPhone 14 Pro, which is rated at 149 by DxOMark. Meanwhile, Honor Magic 4 Ultimate scored 137 points.

DxOMark says the Pixel 7 Pro’s camera displays shadow noise in high-contrast and low-light scenes. Color in indoor video footage and some loss of detail, and image noise in close-up zoom shots are other downsides noted by the site.

Google Pixel 7 Pro was launched last week at Rs. 84,999 for the single 12GB RAM + 128GB memory model. It comes in Hazel, Obsidian, Snow colors and features a 6.7-inch Quad-HD (3,120 x 1,440 pixels) LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by an octa-core Tensor G2 SoC along with 12GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
