According to a report, the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are getting free access to the company’s Google One VPN. Owners of the flagship Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro handsets can now connect to Google’s VPN for free, as Google promised at its Made by Google event earlier this year. According to one report by 9to5Google, the feature was supposed to appear as part of the December Pixel feature drop, but appears to have been enabled on some devices. Gadgets 360 could not confirm availability on Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Proas Google One VPN is not available in India.
Although Google has launched the Pixel 7 series in 17 countries, not all of these regions have access to Google One VPN. The report says that Google has confirmed that Pixel 7 owners in India and Singapore will not have access to a VPN.
Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro owners can test this feature by opening Google One app, according to the report. If the feature is enabled on your smartphone, you’ll see a new splash screen stating that you have free access to the VPN service thanks to your Pixel purchase.
According to the report, you can manage your VPN connection from a new tab under the Benefits tab in the app. You can also enable or disable the VPN. Just like other VPN apps, Android displays an icon in the status bar to let you know that you’re connected to the service.
While Google’s VPN service is offered for free on Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, you’ll reportedly need to sign up for a 2TB cloud storage plan on Google One that costs $10 (about Rs 800) a day. month to use this plan on other devices.
