Tech giant Google is laying off 12,000 employees, or 6% of its workforce. Affected by job cuts, a software engineer named Jeremy Joslin who has worked for the tech giant since 2003 has been laid off. The company gave him the news via an email.

On Friday, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai shared the tough news with his employees. “We have decided to reduce about 12,000 employees in our workforce. We have sent a separate email to those affected US employees. In other countries, this process will take a long time. more time due to local laws and practices,” the notice read.

Mr. Pichai said: “Over the past two years, we have seen periods of strong growth. To match and drive that growth, we have recruited for a different economic reality than economic reality we face today.”
