Google Classroom: Scoring with Drive Preview
One of my favorite things about Google Classroom is that it organizes my Google Drive. When students submit assignments for an assignment, the files are neatly organized into a folder in Google Drive. Sometimes I find it more convenient to review student work from Drive than using the feedback tool built into Google Classroom.
Folder icon
Viewing any assignment in Google Classroom will take you to the assignment review screen. There, you can see a list of your student names on the left side. A collection of student attachments is on the right side. Note below that the Submitted and Designated numbers are a folder icon. This contains all files uploaded by students to that particular assignment.

Google Classroom collects student work for an assignment in a folder in Google Drive for that assignment only. This means you can easily find all of your student materials in a single place. Especially at the high school level, the process of opening and commenting on each text can be cumbersome. Here’s a potential workflow:
Note that this opens a second tab with the Drive folder.
Pull out tabs
In Google Chrome, you can drag tabs into a new window (or grab tabs to arrange them together.) Use your mouse to click and hold on a Google Drive tab and drag down. This will drag the Drive folder into a new window. Resize Google Classroom and Google Drive folder side by side.
Click once on the file in Google Drive and press P to preview the file. Alternatively, you can click the eyeball icon in the toolbar to launch the preview.
To the right of the preview is an arrow to jump to the next exercise. Alternatively, you can use the right and left arrows on your keyboard.
If you open Google Classroom side-by-side with the preview in Google Drive, you can make comments in Student Private Comments.
If a student has a lot of files and you want to get an overview of student activity, the preview mode in Google Drive is definitely faster. Think of P for Preview as part of a resource toolbox to keep you up to date with student progress and assignments.
Google Forms: Set a confirmation message
