Good Magic’s Curly Jack captures the Iroquois
CURLY JACK (Good magic–Connie and Michael, by Roman Ruler) became the second-ranked winner for his freshman male (by Curlin) with a nasty score in GIII Iroquois S. The 10-1 hit resets sixth place as preferred ‘TDN’s Rising Stars’ Damon’s Mound (Girvin) and Echo Again (Gunman) header over the openings of: 23.53 and: 47.48. Four broad turns to go home, the $180,000 KEESEP purchase took the lead early on and retained a late bid from Jace’s Road (Quality Sugar) and Honed runs late (Sharp Azteca) to score in 1:45.62. Honed second. The first winner at the venue in June, Curly Jack finished fifth in Saratoga’s GIII Sanford S. July 16 and headed in Ellis Park Juvenile S. August 14. Lifetime record: 4 -2-1-0.
