Good magic to stand for $50,000 in 2023


Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Xalapa’s Good magic who is leading the North American freshman male rankings, will stand at $50,000 next year, the farm announced on Nov.

The son of Curlin has selected three black category winners this year and is the only member of his mare class to have a tier 1 winner, the Champagne Stakes (G1) Blazing Sevens winner. Good Magic was represented at the Breeders’ Cup World Championship by three starters: Blazing Sevens and Iroquois Stakes (G3) winner Curly Jack in the FanDuel Breeders’ Juvenile Cup presented by the Post-Purebred Care Alliance (G1), and Vegas Magic in NetJets Breeders’ Cup Fillies (G1).

Blazing Sevens was fourth in the Juvenile category, while Curly Jack was fifth. Vegas Magic ranked 10th in junior track and field.

Good Magic won the 2017 Breeders’ Juvenile Trophy en route to the championship title for the 2-year-old foal. At age 3, he won the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2) and finished second in the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1). He then won the betfair.com Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1).

Curlin is this year’s top stallion by number of Breeders’ trophy winners as males of Malathaat in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1), Cody’s Wish in Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1), and Elite power at Qatar Racing Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).
