Golovkin does not retire after losing to Canelo, wants to return to 160

Via Brian Webber: Gennadiy Golovkin has confirmed that he will not be retiring after a decisive round 12 loss to Canelo Alvarez last Saturday night.

Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) said depending on the type of offer he received for the match at 168th, he could stay there or, more likely, return to 160 to defend three his world title in that weight class.

Whatever Golovkin does, he will need to choose his opponents carefully as he doesn’t look like much left in the tank after seventeen years of playing professionally.

Does Golovkin withdraw cash?

Golovkin last night showed Canelo that he doesn’t make immediate adjustments the way quality fighters do when facing an A or B level opponent.

Literally, Golovkin lost seven innings before he finally changed the game plan and became a bit more aggressive against Canelo. Even then, Golovkin didn’t attack Canelo the way he needed to for him to win the rounds.

For the most part, Golovkin was outside, stabbing Canelo during the competition and had no chance of hitting the target.

Fighting like this is a recipe for losing because you don’t beat a popular boxer like Canelo by stabbing him.

Golovkin should have known that after two fights with the Mexican star, but perhaps his intention was not to win but to survive 12 rounds. That’s what it looks like to many boxing fans.

After the contest, Golovkin suddenly brags about going unpunished and have a clean face with no marks.

Yes, Golovkin wasn’t completely defeated as he was in the first two skirmishes with Canelo, but he also didn’t do enough to win the skirmish.

Two of the referees were too generous with Golovkin, scoring 115-113, 115-113. The third goal is said to have a more accurate score of 116-112.

The question is, How can Golovkin boast of being unpunished when he lost the war due to not being aggressive enough?

That shows Golovkin is there just to survive and he’s not trying to win. It goes along with what many boxing fans have about GGG, that he’s cashed out and isn’t willing to put in the effort to try and win.

Gennady is not retiring

“I’m 40 years old, and I’m probably wiser than I was when I was 36. We all understand the rules of the game. We see that from a reasonable point of view. So the referees ruled in Canelo’s decision, and he’s the winner of this fight,” Golovkin said when asked if he thought he had won.

There’s a plan to bring Canelo closer, for him to be open so I can try to do what I want,” Golovkin continued. “Maybe it’s too late in the game to actually happen. “

You can imagine that Golovkin coach Johnathon Banks was upset about GGG taking his time before finally changing the game plan.

Banks looked energetic in Golovkin’s corner as early as the fourth inning, and you could tell he was trying to light a fire under him. You could say that Banks wants Golovkin to attack, but he won’t do it.

“At the same time, I didn’t miss any strong punches,” Golovkin said, bragging about not being hit by Canelo. “You can look me in the face; all clean. I look fresh. Maybe it’s because I started late, so I didn’t have enough time to finish my game plan.”

Yes, Golovkin’s face was clean after the skirmish, but he fought by being too passive. When a boxer like Golovkin decides to play it safe, it means they’ve accepted defeat. Sadly, Golovkin was not willing to go any further.

“Indeed, there is still a fire in me. I have a passion for boxing. Do not forget; I have three belts at 160,” said Golovkin. “I feel great. I didn’t allow any serious shots, and I’m not tired; I’m fresh. I feel strength, and I feel strength inside of me. Of course, if the body When the opportunity comes, I will find a way to continue to the ring.

“It depends on what I have to offer [to fight at 168]. I have three belts at 160, so I have certain obligations related to that,” said Golovkin.
