Golfer ‘bit off nose of competitor’ in row over game | US News
Police say a golfer has been accused of biting off his opponent’s nose in a casino parking lot during an argument about their game.
Bay St Louis Police Chief Toby Schwartz said suspect Mark Wells, 51, of Biloxi, Mississippi, initially fled the scene before surrendering.
The nose was not found and the victim was taken to hospital, local television reported.
Officers dealing with an assault complaint at the city’s Hollywood Casino arrived to find a man with a disfigured facial wound.
“The investigation determined that the suspect, Mark Curtis Wells, bit off the victim’s nose,” Schwartz said.
‘Cruel anarchy’
Police were told Mr Wells and the victim had been arguing all day about a round of golf they had previously played at the resort.
Mr. Wells was charged with felony disorderly conduct.
He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted, which state law defines as “a crime committed with intent to murder in which the suspect mutilated, disfigured, disabled, or destroyed someone’s tongue, eyes, lips, nose, limbs, or other body part”.
