Goa bar row: Smriti Irani sends legal notices to Congress leaders | India News


NEW DELHI: Trade Union Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday sent a legal notice to Conference party and its leaders for allegedly running an illegal bar in Goa.
The Union minister claimed the “malicious” charge was brought at the behest of Gandhi’s family due to her stance in the National Herald case and vowed to fight back.

On behalf of Smriti Irani, her lawyer sent a legal notice to Parliament, and its leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera.
The letter sent by lawyers to ministers read, “The charges made by Address recipient against Our Customer contains false, baseless and unsubstantiated information that is being published and disseminated publicly without any verification by you, Recipients address and still be members of the general public, worldwide access. This is part of a larger plot to gain political attention by sensationalizing misinformation, misrepresentation and misreporting; and obviously with a motive to damage the reputation, goodwill, social and political standing and character of our Clients. ”

“Our customers are heartbroken that these allegations were made with the knowledge of their falsehoods, or at least out of a careless disregard for the truth,” the letter added.
“The false allegations are aimed at damaging our Client’s reputation as a minister and a person in public life, and at the same time insulting her and her daughter’s modesty. her. These are serious offenses under the Indian Penal Code and also a torture that makes the Respondent liable for damages.”
Speaking at a news conference, Irani said the charges were made “at the direction of the leadership of Congress, namely the Gandhi family”.

“Because I was brave enough to hold a press conference and ask questions Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over Rs 5,000 crore robbed from the Indian treasury,” she said.
The minister accused Parliament of “publicly mutilating” her daughter’s character with her allegations.
