Go see the Chrysler Turbine in the Capital of America
If you have never seen a Chrysler Turbine come close, you might finally get your chance this weekend if you happen to be in Washington, DC. Let’s go check Cars in the Capitalan automobile themed exhibition ongoing since September 2nd and will be closed this Sunday, September 11.
Hagerty’s Classic Car the exhibit is saved to the best of the last, with the last car on display being one of nine Chrysler Turbine still exist. The Turbine was on display earlier this weekfollowing the 1952 Hudson Hornet that Herb Thomas raced in the early days of NASCAR.
Both the “Great Hudson Hornet” and the Chrysler Turbines are on the National Register of Historic Vehicles as machines of historic significance to the United States – and not just sentimental.
The former icon of motorsport and the inspiration for “Doc Hudson” from the Pixar movie Car. And the second one is an aspirational machine from Jet Age when Americans believe that technological innovation can make the world a better place. Yes, we are still working on it.
