GN Azad Asks Terrorists In Kashmir To Give Up Arms, Gets Death Threat

GN Azad asks the terrorists in Kashmir to give up their weapons, receiving the threat of death

Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that Article 370 cannot be reinstated for Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar:

Ghulam Nabi Azad, who held a series of public meetings in Jammu and Kashmir before launching his party today, has issued an appeal to the terrorists to ask them to give up their weapons as it only carries devastation and human suffering.

A terrorist propaganda arm issued a death threat to Mr Azad and called him a traitor acting on orders of the BJP.

Addressing a rally in Anantnag, South Kashmir, an area frequented by skirmishes and home to most local terrorist recruits, Mr Azad said gun culture has harmed many generation and he does not want to see more young people die in the Kashmir valley.

Mr. Azad said: “My request to those who have picked up the gun, remember, this gun is not a solution. Guns only bring destruction and suffering.”

There was an enthusiastic crowd at the Dal Banglow lawn in Anantnag, who pledged their support for Mr. Azad’s new political project.

Mr. Azad resigned from the General Assembly last month. He held a series of meetings in Jammu and Kashmir before forming his own party, which is expected to be announced in a week.

Blaming Pakistan for the terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Azad said the violence had left thousands of women widowed and tens of thousands of children orphaned in the Kashmir valley.

Mr. Azad told the meeting: “I don’t want more bloodshed and more corpses of younger people. A country in the defected county that cannot build its own house in order is hell broken. bent to cause devastation of our state and country,” Azad said.

The former leader of the National Assembly said he is not like other leaders who take advantage of religious sentiments to win elections. “I will not deceive people even with sentimental and false slogans,” he said.

Mr. Azad said a terrorist group had made death threats against him but he would not be discouraged to pursue the path of peace.

But even before officially announcing his new party, the leader is facing roadblocks on the issue of Article 370.

Mr. Azad repeatedly told supporters that Article 370 was revoked by the central government in August 2019.

“It takes a two-thirds majority in parliament to restore it,” Mr. Azad said. “The Supreme Court is another option. Over the past three years, the Supreme Court has not heard the case even once.”

Mr Azad said his focus was on restoring status, protecting jobs and land rights for the local residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

“I have two ways to win the election and become a great leader. One is to tell you that Kashmir will get freedom. No, it can’t be. You have had it for 75 years. via?” Mr. Azad asked.

“I can promise autonomy; many elections have been fought on it. I can also talk about autonomy, some elections have also been fought on this slogan. This is slogans that have been tried and tested. Should I mention such slogans?” he say.

He said such slogans would only harm people. “A fool who bangs his head on a mountain will hit his own head, not the mountain,” he said.

He said he could not convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reinstate Article 370. “It is not like the agricultural laws were withdrawn by Prime Minister Modi,” Mr. Azad said.

Regional parties have protested Mr. Azad’s comments on Article 370. PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti has accused him of winning hope from the people.
