Gloria Hunniford was rushed to hospital after a ‘terrifying’ fall that fractured the bone under her eye.
The 82-year-old TV presenter suffered an accident when she tripped over a rug on a ‘very hard wood floor’ earlier this month and revealed the extent of her horrific leg injury when she returned to Loose Women on Wednesday.
Gloria recounted how the horrific accident left her ‘black and blue’ and feared she could have a brain hematoma, and admitted she was now ‘petrified’ from falling again.
Oh no! On Wednesday, Gloria Hunniford, 82, returned to Loose Women from an absence and revealed she was rushed to hospital after a ‘terrifying’ fall that fractured a bone under her eye.
Speaking on the ITV show, she said: ‘This is my first day out [since the fall] and I can’t think of a nicer place to go. I had a big [fall] this time. I tripped over a rug and I completely fell in the face. I shot it all on a very hard wooden floor.
‘Unfortunately, I cracked a bone under my eye. There’s a bone under your eye that holds the eye socket in place, and it’s unfortunately broken. As long as it doesn’t reduce my eyesight that’s fine. ‘
Gloria was worried she might have a hematoma after the fall, but luckily she didn’t, explaining how disoriented she was while in the hospital.
She admitted: ‘I was worried about a blood clot in the brain, as a friend of mine had a similar fall. I was so relieved to know that I didn’t. Surname [the NHS] how wonderful. They screwed me up, they did all they should.

Ouch: ‘There’s a bone under your eye that holds the socket in place, and it’s unfortunately broken. As long as it doesn’t reduce my eyesight it’s fine” said Gloria
‘I’m mainly worried about the eyes. Now I feel comfortable because I know the right person [an eye specialist] to go to if anything happens.
‘I also had a chest X-ray because there was a pain in my chest, fortunately the pain started to subside.
‘I think it’s my sternum, but I think it’s just muscle. My leg looks pretty awful, but it’s all still wrapped in things to help it heal. ‘
Sharing a photo of her heavily bruised leg, Gloria said the bruising around her eyes was just as bad but didn’t want to share what she looks like without makeup.
‘I was thinking, if I could get a Phantom of the Opera mask to put on [her face] That would be cool” joked the TV icon.
Before showing the grisly picture, presenter Jane Moore warned: ‘For those who see this next picture as graphic’, as other panelists gaped in horror at the wound. love.

Gloria praised the paramedics in preventing her from needing a skin graft, saying: ‘Thankfully the ambulance could have brought the skin, otherwise I would have lost a lot of skin.’
She also admitted that the fall had left her too scared to go to the shops in case she had another fall, adding: ‘I’m usually a pretty confident person. I don’t want to sit around doing nothing, that’s why I’m here today, but it affects your confidence.
‘Even in my own garden, I know the steps very well. I was scared of falling again. I don’t want to go on [to the Loose Women set] today and made some stupid mistake and fell down.
‘I can’t go outside the store. I think now I’ll go down the street looking for uneven pavement stones and the like. Falling is bad, this is bad. ‘
