Gigi Hadid has pledged to give her Earnings of Fall Fashion Week 2022 the war in Ukraineas well as those who are experiencing difficulties in Palestine. She followed in the footsteps of the model and her Argentinian friend Mica Argañaraz, who has committed to giving part of this season’s salary to organizations that support Ukraine. Argañaraz posted a message on her Instagram Stories encouraging more models to do the same. Since then, Hadid, sister Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber have followed in the footsteps. Bella Hadid and Gerber both shared on Instagram that they will be donating a portion of their own money and the former even listed useful resources accessible to fans and followers.

In Paris, Balenciaga’s show is a tribute to refugee bravery that speaks to both the Ukrainian victims and to creative director Demna Gvasalia’s personal experience fleeing war in Abkhazia, Georgia, in 1993. Gvasalia also to back blue and yellow t-shirts, representing the national colors of Ukraine, along with display notes on each seat.
Ultimately, Argañaraz and Hadid’s pledge is a reminder that the crisis is weighing heavily on hearts and minds at Fashion Week and beyond.
