The Giants were looking for a premium backup for Daniel Jones, and they apparently found one. The team is signing midfielders Tyrod Taylorreports Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network (via Twitter).
Taylor is signing a two-year, $17 million deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (on Twitter). QB will receive $8.5 million in guarantees.
The Giants are said to be in the market for a player who can provide some competition in the QB room, with Mitchell Trubisky among their targets before he landed in Pittsburgh. This logic makes sense; Jones has been inconsistent in his three seasons in the NFL. He has a 4-7 lead at the start of 2021, and while he’s completed 64.3% of his career-highest passes, he’s also hit just 10 touchdowns compared to 7 hits. block out.
