Giant lizard claws, climbs window at home in Florida
Lizards come in all shapes and sizes, most of which are smaller species.
What Joycelyn Penson encountered while visiting her son’s home in Orlando was no small matter. Penson discovered (and recorded video) a giant lizard, about the size of a human, big enough to confront an alligator.
In the original video shared with her Facebook pagePenson wrote: “OMG! WATCH THIS! My son lives in Orlando, Fla. Really, it’s Apopka, Fla. Look what visited him today! It’s a Tegu lizard!”
The lizard, most likely a monitor lizard, is seen in the 40-second video literally knocking on the door and scratching it by trying to enter the house while standing on the windowsill .

The monitor lizard is one of the largest species on the planet and has a long neck, powerful tail and claws, and well-developed limbs. Adult lengths of extant species range from 8 inches in some species, to over 10 feet in others.
