Via Allan Fox: Gervonta ‘The Tank’ Davis gave Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz some bad news last Sunday night when telling him via Twitter that he wants him to play Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero next.
The tank seems to be on its way to crash with its undefeated opponent Ryan Garcia next, so he won’t be available to defend against Pitbull Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) in the rematch.
There was still not enough interest in the second fight between Pitbull Cruz and Tank Davis. If Cruz wants to help with his situation, he’ll follow Tank’s advice to fight Rolly Romero next. It will be a fight that attracts a lot of interest from fans.
The 24-year-old Cruz easily made a sly look Eduardo Ramirez (27-3-3, 12 KOs), stopping him in the second round last Sunday night.
Ramirez ran around the ring, not throwing punches and focusing entirely on survival. In the second round, Cruz knocked out Ramirez first on the canvas with a left hook to the head.
A short time later, Cruz caught up to Ramirez and dropped him for the second time in the inning with a left hook delivered by a stiff right hand. At that point, the referee dismissed it.
“Rolly and Isaac Cruz need to fight,” said Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. Tank said: “I know someone who doesn’t want to fight Cruz because he doesn’t have a chin, alluding to Ryan Garcia’s lack of strong ability to take on Pitbull Cruz.
“We want a rematch against Gervonta Davis. The fans have been great. I went out and did what I promised. I made it tonight,” said Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz after knocking out Eduardo Ramirez in the second round last Sunday night.
“Bring Devin Haney. He is the championand I’m the interim champion, so let’s put it in,” said Pitbull Cruz when asked who he’d like to fight if he can’t fight Gervonta again.
Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney will take on George Kambosos Jr next month on October 15. If Haney wins, his supporters in Top Rally will want to take on him. Vasyl Lomachenko. It was a bigger fight for Haney than defense against Isaac Cruz.
