Via Jeff Aaron: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero will meet on May 28 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Showtime PPV. They finally have a venue for a Mayweather Promotions matchup between Tank Davis (26-0.24 KOs) and #1 WBA Rolly (14-0.12 KOs).
Tank, 27, confirmed reports Friday that he will fight May 28 in New York. This will be a good test to see if Davis can attract a large audience in Brooklyn, New York as he has done in places like Atlanta, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Antonio, Texas or not.
New York boxing fans will come to see Tank, not Rolly. Tanks are the draw in this skirmish, and Rolly is the more respectable lamb to take him down.
It wouldn’t have been so if Rolly, 26, had proven himself and won the title by battling quality opponents. He didn’t do that. kt Rolly’s #1 ranking with the World Boxing Association comes from victories over the following lower-level fighters:
Anthony Yigit
Jackson Marinez
Avery Sparrow
Arturs Ahmetovs
Needless to say, it’s a weak group that kt Rolly beat for the 1st place. WBA should at least emphasize that kt Rolly has to beat fighters like Isaac Cruz, William Zepeda, Vasyl Lomachenko, Michael Rivera or Jorge Linares for the #1 spot with their organization.

“I think that will be Tank’s easiest payday,” Brandun Lee told Fighthype in choosing Gervonta to easily defeat Rolly. “Of course, he [Rolly] There is power. He has that particular strength.
“I thought it would be another Isaac Cruz and Tank, but Rolly isn’t as smart as Isaac Cruz. Isaac Cruz. No, not at all,” Lee said when asked if he expected a good match between Tank and Rolly.
