Gervonta Davis Picks “Canelo Over All”, Including Bivol

Via Sean Jones: Gervonta ‘The Tank’ Davis admits he hasn’t seen WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol fight, but he still picked Canelo Alvarez to beat him on Saturday.

Tank also said Canelo beat “everyone,” If so, why didn’t he fight four adults?

1. David Benavidez

2. Artur Betterbiev

3. Joe Smith Jr

4. Demetrius Andrade

“Canelo above everyone,” Gervonta Davis told Against TV Hub when asked for his pick in this Saturday’s fight between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol.

The fact that Tank 100% believes that Canelo can beat “everyone” shows how well-organized matchmaking works for fighters. Light mix works, as it fools the public into believing that a boxer is better than him. So you have Gervonta Davis saying Canelo beats “everyone” right now, an opinion formed by him beating the flawed paper champions from the UK and Tennessee.

How can Tank say Canelo can beat “everyone” when he can’t beat the best boxers at 160 [Demetrius Andrade]168 [David Benavidez, and 175 [Artur Beterbiev]?

“I don’t care if it’s hard or not; He’s going to win,” Gervonta said when asked if Bivol will be an uphill fight for Canelo. “No,” Tank said when asked if he has seen Bivol, “No better than Canelo.

It’s hard to take Gervonta’s pick seriously when he admits he’s never seen Bivol fight before.

It doesn’t make sense for Tank to make a choice regarding Canelo if he hasn’t seen Bivol fight before. Tank is blindsided here with his picks, especially his comment on beating Canelo “everyone.

To be fair, Gervonta has drunk all of Canelo’s booster, believing he can walk on water now because he’s beaten this group of flawed boxers since his controversial win over Gennadiy Golovkin in 2018:

  • Avni Yildirim
  • Rocky Fielding
  • Billy Joe Saunders
  • Caleb . Factory
  • Daniel Jacobs
  • Sergey Kovalev
  • Callum Smith

At least Tank will have a chance to see Bivol (19-0, 11 KOs) for the first time on Saturday if he’s watching. If that doesn’t bode well for the Mexican star, the next time he’s asked if Canelo can beat such a boxer, he might give a simpler answer.

“Oh my god no,” Tank Davis said when asked if he would like to see Canelo fight Gennadiy Golovkin again. “Because it was like a sparring match. I don’t want to keep seeing it.

It seems that Tank didn’t watch the two matches between Canelo and Golovkin because they weren’t “fighting each other”. Boxing fans believe Golovkin has outplayed Canelo in both fights, so it’s “how’s the wits?” No words.
