German Oaks Winner 2022 Sold to Shadai, will race in UK
Classic heroine Toskana Belle (Fr) (Shamalgan {Fr}), who most recently raced for Andreas Wohler and Australian Bloodstock, has been sold to Shadai Ranch and will be coached by Roger Varian in the future, Wohler announced on his website.
Bred by Ecurie Normandie Pur Sang, the chestnut is a €40,000 RNA at the Arqana October Yearling Sale. Originally raced by coaches Marian Falk Weissmeier and Stall Piccadilly, the girl won a second ask at Evreux in May before adding Henkel-Stutenpreis listed on May 14. Bought by Australian Bloodstock, she finished third in the Diana G3 Test at Hoppegarten still with Weissmeier. Moving on to Wohler, Toskana Belle won against the Oaks on Aug. 7. Her most recent attempt was a second in the GIII Jockey Club Oaks Invitational S. led by Frankie Dettori during the Belmont at meeting. Aqueduct on September 17. From just six starts, Frohsim (Fr)’s half-sister (Dabirsim {Fr}) has grossed $464,764.
“The impressive winner Diana has been sold to Shadai Farms and is now en route to the UK, where she will be prepared by Roger Varian,” Wohler said. “There are a lot of different characters in the horses, and some make it easier, others harder. Toskana Belle has always made it easy for everyone with her uncomplicated and friendly nature and her time on Ravensberg will be forever in our memories. “
Her extended family contains the group winners Varevees (GB) (Kahyasi {Ire}) and Kaldounevees (Fr) Kaldoun {Fr}) in Group 2, while ‘Rising star TDN’ and then winner Breizh Sky (Fr) (Pedro The Great) finished third in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.
