Via Dan Ambrose: George Kambosos Jr. believe him “Was broken” Devin Haney is mentally set to start the fight on Sunday, and he’s ready to release his “half” for his WBC lightweight title at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
Kambosos doesn’t say what he saw in Haney led him to believe he was down, but something important to him came to that conclusion.
IBF/WBA/WBO Champion Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) analyzed Haney (27-0.15 KOs) and concluded that he is scared and ready to be disqualified.
Kambosos wonders how Haney would function without his trainer/father Bill Haney there to save him, things start to get nasty for him.
Not only was Haney without dad Bill, but his coach Ben Davison couldn’t get into the water either. Would Haney stay 100% without those two working his corner on Sunday night?
“Mentally, I was below him. There are certain things I saw where I knew they were broken,” Kambosos told Fighthype about Haney. “He is very scared, very timid. He still thinks this is just a show.
“I just continue to do what I do best and I have some exciting things to do to show the world and his fan base what kind of person he is,” continued Kambosos.
“Let’s see how he reacts when I show the world what kind of person he is. It’s similar to Lopez with that fake front. Same with Devin Haney.
“He talked online about Canelo Alvarez, calling him a drug scammer. Suddenly, he runs into Canelo Alvarez, and you see him as a child. ‘Can I take a picture?’ What kind of man is that? Is a man!
“If you are prepared, do your best. I can’t wait to expose him inside the ropes. They can say all they want. Once we’re in the rope, it’s him and me, and he can’t get out.
“I just hope for the new team he has, new coaches he hasn’t worked with before. I hope they really love him.
“I hope they want to save him because if his dad isn’t there, that’s not my problem. It’s not my fault. He will save you. These people, I don’t think they will save you.
“I’m still hunting because he has this half piece [WBC], which he never obtained,” said Kambosos when informed that he was being hunted. “I am still hunting. Yes, I am hunted, but I am also hunting,” said Kambosos.
