Via Charles Brun: Former heavyweight champion George Foreman is picking WBC champ Tyson Fury for tonight’s win over Dillian Whyte. Foreman considers Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) to be a more athletic, skilled fighter than 34-year-old Whyte.
One doubt Foreman has about Fury is the way he talks about his retirement after tonight’s fight.
With Fury planning to retire after the battle, he may not have the motivation needed to pull him through the fierce fight with ‘The Body Snatcher’.
Fury, 33, has bragged a lot about himself over the past eight weeks, praising himself for fueling the fight, believing he’s beaten everyone.
In fact, Fury’s background is weak, including a win over a lackluster 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, and two wins against a badly blundered Deontay Wilder. In one of those wins, Fury seemed to be knocked down, and to his surprise the referee gave him a count.
You could argue that the fight should have been stopped on the spot and would probably have happened in most cases. When a boxer is beaten cold, like Fury was beaten by Wilder in round 12 in 2018, the fight is stopped on the spot.
“Tyson Fury where he conquered everythingso it’s hard to stay motivated,” Foreman told FanSided.
Fury does NOT “conquer everything,” as Foreman puts it. He has yet to beat these boxers:
- Anthony Joshua
- Filip Hrgovic
- Oleksandr Usyk
- Frank Sanchez
- Joe Joyce
- Daniel Dubois
Those guys are arguably better boxers than the ones Fury has beaten in the past seven years.

If you know anything about boxing, you’ll realize that Fury’s background is a bad one because his only win was against a hilltop Klitschko. The rest of Fury is victory over the underdogs.
Yes, Deontay held the WBC belt for five years, but he never beat anyone notable during all those years. Wilder’s best victories were against old Bermane Stiverne and journeyman Chris Arreola. The rest of the players Deontay beat were all throw-ins.
“The biggest question mark going to be on Saturday is whether Fury is as dedicated as he is in his last three fights with Deontay Wilder. I think it was a great heavyweight fight,” Foreman continued.
“It was the worst thing in the world: walking into the ring and not knowing why you were there, but he had the ability, the size and the strength to win them all no matter what.
I see [Tyson] beat this guy because he has more ability than the other guy [Whyte]”Foreman said.
