Genshin Impact Version 3.3 will tackle a trading card game
With the possible exception of Gwent, the minigames inside open world RPGs tend to be lousy. They often poorly mimic the much more interesting and profound board and card games you can play in the real world, offered as an unwanted break from the monsters I’ve come to stab sword. Will The Genshin effectDoes the upcoming Genius Invokation TCG fit that trend?
Probably not, no, but we’ll know for sure when the Version 3.3 update comes out on December 7th. There’s also a new quest that takes place after the game’s main story, a couple of characters. New playable items and a Breakout mini-game. Ah. I actually quite like Breakout.
I don’t know what’s going on in the first half of that movie, but I enjoyed the stretch shots of Faruzan, the mysterious mechanic crying over a mushroom.
You’ll be able to play Genius Invokation with both players and NPCs, defeating NPCs to redeem new cards and skins. The goal is to defeat your opponent’s three character cards, specifically by swapping your own characters around “to activate Elemental Reaction” while “applying summoner spells and effects with Action Cards”. Reflecting on the character swaps and combinations of elements from the main game’s combat is a good idea, although the card game glimpse in the trailer above seems very dry. We shall see!
The new “Archon Quest Interlude Chapter” is called “Inversion of Genesis” and sees you “to Irminsul with the Wanderer”. The Tramp’s identity seems too difficult for me to present here, but I can tell you he is a playable five-star Anemo catalyst user and he joined Faruzun , a four-star Anemo archer. I can’t tell you what most means are.
There will also be a number of mini-games, including a “brick-breaking” Breakout parody and some timed balloon-collecting experiments. Hide and seek game “Windtrace” and battle challenge “Misty Dungeon” will also return with new updates.
On a personal note, I spent 6 months sweating in classes in Thailand, begging 13-year-olds to stop playing Genshin Impact on their phones. I hope their stupid card game turns out to be trash.
