There’s no denying the fact that Virat Kohli is one of the best ODI players the world has ever seen. Be it the stats or the technicalities of his game, Kohli has certainly ticked every box in the formula. It’s hard to notice when and how the batter shifts his gears over the course of an inning, while his more than 12,500 runs below his belt average more than 57 over the course of 46 centuries for see his consistency in form.
Kohli’s teammate Ravichandran Ashwin thinks it is ODI cricket where Kohli shows his best form. He feels that Kohli’s excellence in the format also helps him perform well in Test and T20 cricket.
“ODI cricket is where he unleashes his genius. Many of them won’t understand the flow. After Covid we are seeing more Test cricket and T20 cricket. ODI Cricket is very rarely played. . We don’t get the same line of ODI cricket. Virat Kohli is one of those cricketers who have been playing continuously for a long time,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
“So a mental reset is really important for anyone. Sometimes he gets a break in some series that doesn’t matter. But both his Test cricket and his T20 cricket. All of which were built largely on the success of his ODI cricket.
“Actually, when he’s playing ODI cricket, he’s getting that Test process and Test process,” he added.
Kohli now has the second-most number of international centuries to bear her name. He scored a total of 73 — 46 in the ODI, 27 in the Test and 1 in the T20I.
