Gem Heist moves to Rancho San Miguel

Male varieties of the third plant Gem Heist (Street Cry {Ire} –Careless Jewel, by Tapit) was moved to stand at Rancho San Miguel in San Miguel, California for the 2022 breeding season. His fee was $2,500, bailing live ponies.

The 10-year-old stallion formerly standing on a private ranch in Bakersfield, California was the property of the late horseman Bob Grayson, Sister Grayson purchased Gem Heist for $100,000 from Eddie Woods’ consignment at Barretts March. 2014 Sale of Selected 2- Age in Training.

Gem Heist suffered a career-ending injury while preparing for his debut, and subsequently had to retire to teach. So far, he is credited with 29 reported ponies, including eight juveniles and three in 2022. From the five starts of his life, three are winners, leading First are the many Saturday Heist winners.

“We are delighted to welcome a stallion with such excellent bloodlines to Rancho San Miguel,” said ranch owner/manager Tom Clark. “Gem Heist has shown real potential to beginners, and he is improving his mares. We look forward to helping him reach the next level in his dark horse career.”
