Gas prices may increase spending again
Americans are spending a lot less than they were a few months ago. So what will they do with the money saved at the pump?
Gasoline prices have fallen steadily since the regular unleaded grade peaked at $5.02 a gallon in early June. As of Wednesday, it averaged $3.76 nationally, according to AAA. That compares with $3.19 a year ago, but with gasoline futures for delivery last month down significantly from retail since June, retail prices are expected to fall further.
